Senator Lavalle Tours Hampton Green Alliance House

The recent unveiling of a Hampton Green Alliance (HGA) project in Southampton provided an education in sustainability for Senator Ken LaValle (center), Assemblyman Fred Thiele (left) and the many guests who shared in the tour of the  Alliance’s record breaking green home. 

On Dec. 22, 2008, the Parkside Avenue home of David (far right) and Saundra Dubin became engulfed in flames and was destroyed. The tragedy drew the attention of the HGA through Richard Scott, a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional, who brought together what came to be known as Project Team.  The primary focus of the special event was the high school projects of Jeremy and Jordon Dubin who made the green rebuilding of the their home the topic of their school science projects.  Each will gather specific data and make individual presentations on how sustainable building saves money and the environment.

Senator LaValle spoke about the need for sustainable technologies and applauded the efforts of all those involved in bringing this project to fruition.  A tour demonstrated sustainable elements and subsystems that allow the home to be net-zero energy, carbon neutral, and LEED platinum certified.
