Senator Smith will receive the “Guardian Angel” for 2010 award today, Thursday, February 25th.
(ST. ALBANS, NY)- Senate President Malcolm A. Smith is slated to be honored by the New York Families for Autistic Children, Inc (NYFAC). Senator Smith will receive the “Guardian Angel” for 2010 award tonight, Thursday, February 25, 2010, at Russo’s On The Bay in Howard Beach, New York.
“I am delighted that although there are numerous people that could have been tapped to receive this award I was chosen. I am humbled that the New York Families for Autistic Children, Inc. thought enough of me and my commitment to the people of New York State to honor me,” said Senator Smith.
The Guardian Angel award is the most important award for (NYFAC). Every year it is given to someone who exhibits outstanding service to the community and affects the families that they serve.
Senator Smith has brought the issue of autism to the forefront in Albany. He understands that there is a substantial increase in the number of children diagnosed with autism and is taking swift action.
“ Autism affects people of every race and gender. It is truly a crucial state concern,” concluded Senator Smith.
