Show Set for October 2nd at Xaverian High School 

Brooklyn – State Senator Marty Golden and the officers of AARP Chapter #5055 today are announcing that a celebrity judge has been named for Brooklyn’s 4th Annual Senior Idol contest to be held the first weekend of October.

DJ Don K. Reed from WCBS FM, 101.1, the host of the Doo Wop Shop program, will be among a panel of judges charged with the task of selecting Brooklyn’s next Senior Idol. Joe Franklin, “Memory Lane”, will once again be the show’s emcee (MC). Xaverian’s music director Joseph Loposky will also serve as a judge at the event.

Senator Marty Golden stated, “Brooklyn is home to many talented seniors who have exhibited singing and dancing abilities at our senior centers and beyond, and I think that this year’s “Senior Idol” will again be a great success full of great entertainment and fun. The previous shows have brought tears and laughter to the audience and I know this year’s show will be no different. So join us and vote for your favorite singer. This is the best $10 dollars you can spend”

Senator Golden continued, “I thank Gail and Al Asfazadour for their continued efforts on behalf of AARP Chapter #5055 to make this event possible every year. Their commitment to this event is what makes it such a great night of music and fun.”

To qualify for the show, one must audition on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Xaverian High School. To register for the auditions, contact Senator Golden’s office at (718) 238-6044. The 10 finalists will compete at Brooklyn’s 4th Senior Idol to be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at Xaverian High School, located at 7100 Shore Road, in Brooklyn. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and admission is $10.00 at the door.

The winner of the show will be awarded a grand prize of $500 donated by TD Bank.
