Senator Golden Celebrates Irish Heritage Month

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden recently hosted an Irish Heritage celebration where he took time to honor four outstanding community leaders for their good work and efforts on behalf of our neighborhood. The awards ceremony and breakfast was held at the Knights of Columbus on Nostrand Avenue on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

Senator Golden stated, “Millions of Americans trace their ancestry to Ireland’s shores, and during Irish-American Heritage Month, we recognize those proud citizens and their important contributions to our community. This year, I honored individuals that have made this community strong, and have been leaders in our faith, in education, in justice and in our community.”

Senator Golden’s 2010 Irish heritage honorees included:

- Mark Cranston, Retired from NYC Department of Corrections and Current Chief of Staff of the New Jersey State Department of Corrections

-Father Dennis J. Farrell, Pastor, Resurrection Church

-Ellen McHugh, Lead Coordinator, New York City Office, Parent to Parent of New York State

-Larry Morrish, Community Activist, Founding Member, Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Senator Marty Golden will march in the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday, March 28, 2010, a parade in which he is a founder and has served as a Grand Marshal. Senator Marty Golden was the 2010 Honorary Male Grand Marshal of the Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade held in Rockaway on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
