Senator Golden Welcomes “Senator for a Day Norman Zhao” to Albany

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, 22nd District), this week welcomed the 2010 “State Senator for a Day” contest winner, McKinley Junior High School 8th Grade student Norman Zhao, to the State Capitol in Albany. Senator Golden invites the contest winner to visit him in Albany and to watch the State Senate in session.

In his essay, Norman wrote about the importance of the Brooklyn Public Library, and how as a Senator, he would work to prevent any budget cuts to libraries.

Norman Zhao was selected as the winner of the 2010 Senator For A Day essay contest from more than 30 students who presented their essays before a panel of judges at a ceremony held in May at Public School 204. Senator Golden received almost 2,000 essays that began with the phrase, “ If I were a State Senator for a Day”

Senator Marty Golden stated, “I am proud to have welcomed the future of our community and our 2010 State Senator for a Day, Norman Zhao and his class, to Albany. I always look forward to having the students see first hand the workings of the New York State Senate. I believe the students find the trip to be both educational and fun, and what better prize to offer our winning student, than a trip to the State Capitol.”
