Statement From Senator Golden on Local Conditions Following Snowstorm

Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today issued the following statement in response to the weather related events of this past weekend:

“I am maintaining contact with and have spoke with City officials, the Mayor’s office, the Sanitation Department, our local police precincts, our hospitals and our volunteer ambulance services and the New York City Transit Authority, to bring to their attention the concerns of our community. I have made it clear to City authorities that resources must be deployed to our area to ensure public safety and so to also allow people to move around in some manner.

My staff and I have spoken with many of our neighbors who are extremely disappointed that by this time after the storm, their streets have not been plowed, and they are still unable to basically leave their house or get around. I have been informed that a large contingent of tow trucks has been dispatched to our community to help move the abandoned cars from the middle of our roadways which has prevented many streets from receiving snow removal. This will be of great assistance to seeing our roadways cleared.
