(Albany, NY)-In an effort to increase public awareness and encourage participation in local anticrime efforts, Senator Breslin (D- Delmar) notes that Tuesday, August 3rd (between 7 and 10 PM) is National Night Out — “America’s Night Out Against Crime.
National Night Out (NNO), a year-long community building campaign, is designed to:
· Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
· Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
· Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;
· Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
“While this is a national night of recognition, it is important to remember that every night should be a night dedicated to the safety of our neighborhoods and communities,” Senator Breslin said. “National Night Out is a necessary reminder that we all play a role in keeping the community safe.”
Senator Breslin encourages all of his constituents to join him on Tuesday August 3rd at The Beverwyck Neighborhood Association National Night Out block party. The event starts at 4pm and will take place on West Lawrence Street between Washington Avenue and Manning Boulevard.
Last year, according to the organization's website, involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide held events.
