Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting my office regarding the governor’s proposal to further reduce the state parks operating budget. As you know, this latest round of cuts will force the closure of many New York State parks, including John Boyd Thacher State Park in Voorheesville. I appreciate and share your concern that the closure of this park would be detrimental to the community, both economically and environmentally.
Parks such as Thacher provide a much needed outlet for my constituents, especially in these harsh economic times as people are more apt to staycation rather than vacation. Please know that I will do everything in my power to ensure that John Boyd Thacher State Park remains open and functioning. Be assured that I will make my voice heard during budget negotiations and work to restore the State Park operating aid.
I appreciate your taking the time to share your views with me on this important issue. If I can provide you with any further information or assistance on this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact me again.
Sincerely,
Neil D. Breslin
Member of Senate
