STATEMENT FROM STATE SENATE MAJORITY LEADER PEDRO ESPADA, JR. (D-BRONX) REGARDING THE RACE TO THE TOP AWARD
State Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada, Jr. (D-Bronx) said, “This is vital to the education of our children, particularly in the 33rd district and other poor communities, because it will empower students, especially our immigrant populations, with resources and opportunities that prepare them for higher education and the global job market. Furthermore, this funding is vital to teachers and educators, and it will stimulate the state and local economies and create jobs. As a conference, my colleagues and I did what was necessary, including our support of charter school reform and teacher and principal evaluations, to insure that New York would secure this much-needed Race to the Top award.”
