Senator McDonald Holds Public Hearing on the New York State Budget
March 9, 2010
Ballston Spa- March 9, 2010 – Senator Roy McDonald was joined by New York State Senate Finance Staff, Chairman of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors Bill Peck, Ballston Spa Superintendent Joseph Dragone, and Southern Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce President Peter Aust to discuss with community members the 2010 New York State Budget.
Over 70 local residents attended the hearing at Wood Road Elementary in Ballston Spa on Saturday, March 6.
“Since the passage of last year’s disastrous budget, which I voted against, I have been calling on my colleagues in the legislature to hold open budget meetings to allow the public an opportunity to comment on the most important work the legislature does each year, “McDonald continued, “Simply stated, the leadership has taken our focus off the budget and the people the budget impacts, which is a tremendous disservice to the public which is unacceptable.”
McDonald will hold a second public hearing on the New York State budget in Rensselaer County, tentatively scheduled for March 20 at the Rensselaer City School.
