New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz Praises NYPD Arrest of Rape Suspect
New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) issued the following statement of appreciation of the NYPD’s efforts to find the rapist of the 79-year old Bronx woman who was attacked in her Westchester Square apartment building on July 19th.
“As the Chairman of the Senate Aging Committee, I am deeply grateful for the dedication of the police officers detectives who, today, have made an arrest of the alleged rapist who attacked, beat and raped a Bronx senior citizen last month.
New York City’s Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and the NYPD should be credited with using their investigative resources to find, arrest and bring to justice this assailant.
It is disgusting that anyone could commit such a horrific crime against an elderly woman. As a society, we need to promote respect for all people and for all human life. We need to commit ourselves to building our communities and neighborhoods to be safe places for senior citizens and all families to live and grow.”
