Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz Unites with Bangladeshi Americans
Against Hate Crimes
On Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 12:00 noon, New York State Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz (D-Bronx) and Community Organizer Luis Sepulveda, Esq., will hold a press conference with Mr. Mohobub Alom, President of the Bangladesh Society of The Bronx, to denounce the hate-crimes that continue to plague Bangladeshi Americans who live and work in the Parkchester community. The press conference will be held at Neerob’s Restaurant located at 2109 Starling Avenue in The Bronx.
Senator Reverend Díaz stated, “Violence against Bangladeshi Americans is steadily rising in our community, and those responsible for any hate crimes must be held accountable. I will not accept the wheels of justice turning slowly for one community and faster for another.”
According to Mr. Sepulveda, numerous complaints, which range from assault to robbery, have been filed but action has been slow. In one incident, a victim was "jumped" by about 15 youths.
For further information, please contact Mr. Sepulveda at (347) 582-8173.
