Senator Rubén Díaz Applauds Restoration of Student Metro Cards
Albany, NY State Senator Rubén Díaz, Sr. today applauded the restoration of the student Metro Cards.
“I am happy that an agreement has been reached that resulted in the restoration of the student Metro Cards,” stated Senator Díaz.
“Metro Cards are very important to the students who live in my district, and I was very concerned that one approach to resolving the budget impasse included the elimination of the student Metro Cards,” he continued.
“This is the kind of service that we as legislators should protect and fight for. Using school children to balance the budget was unacceptable for me and many others,” Senator Díaz remarked.
“Many thanks go to Governor David Paterson, Conference Leader John Sampson and Senate Transportation Committee Chair Martin Malave Dilan for their diligence in making this much-needed restoration,” concluded Senator Díaz.
