Senator Rubén Díaz Calls on Governor-Elect Cuomo
to Support Ban on Legislators’ Outside Income
Bronx, New York - State Senator Rubén Díaz released the following statement:
“I have introduced a bill that prohibits a member of the legislature from engaging in any paid outside activity during his or her term of office (S.3149-Diaz/A.4704-Ball).
“I call on Governor-Elect Cuomo to lend his support and encouragement, and to work with the Legislature to ensure that this bill is passed before the end of the current legislative session.
“During his campaign for Governor, Mr. Cuomo spoke eloquently and convincingly of the need to clean up Albany.
“Indeed, in a post-election video, the Governor-Elect spoke of the need to clean up Albany - together.
“This bill is one important way to do just that.
“The time has come - indeed it is long past - for New York State Legislators to devote their complete time and attention to serving their constituents.”
