Statement from Senator Hassell-Thompson Regarding the Earthquake in Haiti
Ruth Hassell-Thompson
January 13, 2010
“Our hearts and prayers are with the Haitians and their many loved ones during this devastating natural tragedy. Currently, there are not a lot of concrete facts for us to report to the public who may have families affected by this earthquake. As we receive reliable information, we will do our best to disseminate it as quickly as possible. Please know that my office is working with city, state and federal authorities to coordinate the most efficient manner to assist the Haitians. At this moment, we have been told that the best way to help is by donating money, but only through reputable organizations. The Haitian community is a very vibrant and important part of New York City and our State, and we will do everything possible to aid them during this painful time.”
