SENATOR LEIBELL PLEASED WITH THE AWARDING OF A CONTRACT BY THE NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO BEGIN IMPROVEMENTS ON ROUTE 22 IN THE TOWN OF SOUTHEAST
Citing tough economic times, Senator Leibell is nevertheless pleased to see that the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has awarded a contract in the amount of $1.48 million to improve traffic congestion and safety along Route 22 at the intersection of Route 312 in the Town of Southeast.
“Our long term commitment to addressing the safety and the congestion issues on Route 22 is taking its first step with this contract. Balancing the needs of the environmentally sensitive areas along Route 22 with the recognition that the traffic congestion and safety has had a detrimental affect on our quality of life, I am pleased to see this project moving forward.”
The project will include widening Route 22 between the intersection of Route 312 north to Doansburg Road. According to the NYSDOT, traffic will be maintained throughout the duration of the project which is expected to begin this spring with completion in the fall of 2010.
The construction contract was awarded to ELQ Industries of New Rochelle in Westchester County.
