Bills Will Allow Town of Montgomery and the Village Cornwall-on-Hudson to Offer Retirement Plans For Police Officers
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced that Governor David Paterson recently signed two pieces of legislation into law pertaining to the Town of Montgomery and the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson.
The first bill authorizes the Town of Montgomery to offer an optional retirement plan to one of their police officers. The second bill authorizes the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson to offer an optional twenty year retirement plan to four of their police officers.
"This action will allow the municipalities to rectify administrative oversights which had enrolled the officers into the wrong retirement plans," said Senator Larkin. "The officers will now be placed into the correct plans which will avoid problems later when they retire."
Both municipalities requested the legislation and both chapters take effect immediately.
