June 24, 2010
Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View) today announced the State Senate has passed legislation (S.7676) he sponsored to create the High Performance Computing Program within the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR) that will connect researchers and businesses with New York State's high performance computing resources.
Senator Stachowski, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business, said, “By creating this new program, we can further develop research and economic development opportunities in New York State. The program will select and fund projects that encourage research collaboration and innovation within the business community and provide access to high performance computing capabilities for small businesses. In addition, this new program would work to better leverage funds from other government, private, and non-profit sectors. Ultimately, it would promote job creation and workforce development, and increase the competitiveness of New York State companies throughout the country as well as globally.”
The bill was sent to the Assembly.
