SENATE PASSES STACHOWSKI BILL TO RENAME ROUTE 20 THE “HIGHWAY OF FALLEN HEROES”

Senator William T. Stachowski (D, Lake View)  today announced that legislation (S.6748) he sponsors to designate State Route 20 as the "Highway of Fallen Heroes" has been passed by the New York State Senate.

“Words cannot possibly express the appreciation we feel for these brave men and women, their valiant efforts and the ultimate sacrifice they made on the battlefield in our defense,” said Senator Stachowski.  “Their loss is the most powerful reminder to all of us of the cost of freedom for without them, the face of our nation would be immensely different today.  They gave this country the best years of their lives and they deserve to be honored in every possible way.  This small act attempts to show just a part of our respect and appreciation for our veteran's, their dedication and sacrifice.”

If enacted, the legislation will rename the entire stretch of Route 20 which runs from Albany across the state to Erie County, and in the vicinity of the City of Lackawanna, the Towns of Depew, West Seneca, Lake View, Hamburg and  Eden, and the Villages of Blasdell and Athol Springs.  Route 20 originates in Boston, Massachusetts and runs all the way to Newport, Oregon.
