Announces Funds For The Belle Center’s Capital Improvements
January 28, 2010 – In the same lower west side neighborhood which was highlighted earlier this week by ABC’s Extreme Makeover TV show, Senator William Stachowski (D – 58th District, Buffalo) joined with The Belle Center Executive Director Nestor Hernandez, The Center’s staff and some of the many people who use The Center on a regular basis, to announce that Senator Stachowski has secured a Legislative Grant for The Belle Center.
The Senator presented a ceremonial check for $34,350 to support of The Center’s capital improvement projects and educational programming.
The Senator who donated cases of water and spent time with volunteers at the Massachusetts Avenue location of Extreme Makeover project is proud of his involvement with The Belle Center, and keeping the TV show’s spirit alive on the lower west side.
“It's an honor to be a part of The Belle Center’s success. It is gratifying to know that the $34,000 grant that I was able to award to The Center will help with capital improvements, and continue to provide strong neighborhood programs, said Senator Stachowski. “The Belle Center has helped more people in our community than we will ever realize and I'm happy to provide them with much needed financial assistance to continue their mission.
“Senator Stachowski’s support is imperative to the success of our programming here at The Belle Center,” said Belle’s Executive Director Nestor Hernandez. "The funds will be used to improve outdoor playground space for day care. These enhancements will provide opportunities for children and youth to learn, play and be physically active."
