Senator William Stachowski (D-C, Lake View) held a ‘virtual’ town hall meeting via the internet on the topic of the 2010-2011 state budget on Thursday, February 25, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.
Approximately 80 residents throughout the 58th Senate District participated by watching live and speaking directly to the senator through emails, text messages, phone calls and live streaming in the hour long virtual town hall meeting. Residents asked the senator questions about issues such as how the state budget is crafted; the Governor's proposed soda tax; cigarette tax; park closures; the STAR property tax break; funding for snow mobile trails, UB 2020 and the proposal to suspend the tax refund as well as other topics of interest.
"I am very pleased that so many residents participated in this virtual town hall meeting," said Senator Stachowski. "It provided me with valuable input from the citizens of Western New York and I hope that our discussions were informative and useful to all who called in."
