Senator Stachowski Receives National Federation Award

New York State Senator William T. Stachowski, D-Buffalo, was honored for his outstanding contributions to community service by the National Federation for Just Communities (NFJC), at their annual awards luncheon. The National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York held its annual Community Leader Awards Luncheon on January 21, 2010, in the Buffalo Convention Center.
 
The human relations organization has been working to combat racism and discrimination in the area since it was founded as a branch of the National Conference of Christians and Jews in 1951.
 
Chairwoman of the National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York,Mary H. Gresham, Dean of the University at Buffalo Graduate School of Education, announced that Senator William T. Stachowski will be honored by NFJC as an individual who has distinguished himself a leader in the community through his work on behalf of others.
 
 
Hon. William T. Stachowski – Born and raised in the Kaisertown section of Buffalo, Mr. Stachowski entered public service in 1974 when he became an Erie County Legislator. He presently serves as the Senator for NY’s 58th district and is Chair of the Senate Commerce, Economic and Small Business Committee. Senator Stachowski is a member of many organizations and has served on the Board for the Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center, the Hunter’s Hope Foundation, St. Mary’s School for the Deaf, and the Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Committee. He is a volunteer with the Skating Association for the Blind and Handicapped and is a football coach for St. Francis High School.
