Senator Stachowski Secures State Grant for Valley Community Association
The Valley Community Association (VCA), Executive Director Peggy Overdorf, joined New York State Senator Bill Stachowski, (58th District, Buffalo), as Senator Stachowski announced he has secured a $20,000 Legislative Grant for the Valley Community Association.
The Valley Community Association, a non-profit, human service agency in the Buffalo River Community, will use the grant for building improvements, senior citizen programs, and an updated security system.
The Senator secured the $20,000 grant, which was requested by the VCA to assist with the building and their programs. “I am proud to have played a small part in continuing the daily programs offered to the Buffalo River Community here at the Valley Community Association through the funding we secured," said Senator Stachowski. “This organization’s importance in the Buffalo River area for both youth and seniors is invaluable. The VCA has more than 275 senior members who participate in their programs or gather here for lunch. It is my hope that this funding ensures the continued success of the Valley Community Association’s programs right here in the Buffalo River area.”
Executive Director of The Valley Community Association, Peggy Overdorf, said that the State Legislative Grant secured by Senator Stachowski will benefit all who use the facility and enjoy the VCA’s Programs. "This grant will fund the renovation of our "Floors and Doors" here at Valley Community Association," said Overdorf. "Our building was built in three seperate segments, this money will help preserve the integrity of our facility, as well benefit our on going programs."
The Valley Community Association is a non-profit multi faceted human service agency in Southeast Buffalo. Founded in 1969, the VCA hosts senior citizens lunches and activities, along with the Strive For Excellence after school program, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, community meetings, and Valley child care.
