Sen. Espaillat Welcomes Constituents, Community Leaders at Open House Brunch

Over 300 constituents attend “meet and greet”- style event with Sen. Espaillat

New York State Senator Adriano Espaillat (D – 31^st District) welcomed over 300 constituents, community leaders, and local elected officials at an open house brunch held at his new district office.

The event, where Sen. Espaillat greeted his constituents, was held over food and beverages ranging from traditional Latin cuisine, to Kosher offerings, to soul food. The newly minted senator gave constituents a brief rundown of the services offered by his office and introduced them to staff.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to develop new relationships and strengthen old ones,” said Sen. Espaillat, who successfully served as assemblyman for 14 years before being sworn into the Senate this January. “It’s important that residents of my district understand that my staff and I are completely accessible to them at all times.”

Sen. Espaillat discussed his top priorities in the Senate, headlined by job creation, housing, and independent redistricting. Constituents were given a tour of the office, housed at 5030 Broadway in Inwood.

Elected officials on hand included State Senator Bill Perkins (D – 30^th District), State Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (81^st District), Congressman Jerry Nadler (D – NY-8), City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez, and Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson. The event was also attended by numerous district leaders and representatives from local non-profit organizations.

“As a representative of one of the most diverse districts in New York, I take pleasure in being open to my constituents and listening to their ideas and concerns,” said Sen. Espaillat. “Every day I spend in the Senate is a day I fight to bring jobs, education, healthcare, and affordable housing to the working families in our community.”
