Authorized HEAP Representatives Will be Available at Lanza’s Office 4 Days a Week to Assist Staten Islanders

Staten Island residents may qualify to receive assistance with their heat and energy bills this winter, Senator Lanza announced today.

The Home Energy Assistance Program officially began for the 2011-2012 winter season on Wednesday, November 16. HEAP is a federally funded program that provides heating benefits to supplement a household's annual energy cost. HEAP also provides emergency assistance for households in a heat related energy emergency, and assists with furnace repairs and/or replacements for households with inoperable heating equipment. HEAP may help pay for Electricity, Propane, Natural Gas, Wood, Oil, Kerosene, Coal, or any other heating fuel.

“In anticipation of the cold weather months and subsequent high fuel costs, all eligible Staten Island households are encouraged to apply for HEAP,” said Senator Lanza.  “My office will have authorized HEAP representatives available 4 days a week to assist with applications and processing.”

Residents who need assistance can call Senator Lanza’s office at (718) 984-4073 Monday through Friday or stop by Lanza’s office located at 3845 Richmond Ave. in Eltingville. An authorized HEAP representative will be on hand Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. beginning today and continuing through the end of the year.
