New Yorkers whose appliances were damaged by flooding from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee can apply for rebates from the state to replace the equipment. $8 million is available through the New York Energy Research and Development Authority to help pay for appliances ranging from dehumidifiers to furnaces, with rebates ranging from $100 to $2,500.
Applications for Storm Relief rebates will be available on Monday, September 19, 2011. The rebates are available in areas affected by tropical storms Irene and Lee and are for appliances not covered by insurance or federal emergency funds. Rebates will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Funds are limited.
