LAKE PLACID IRONMAN BILL HEADED TO GOVERNOR
The State Senate today approved legislation that authorizes out-of-state health care professionals to provide services for athletes competing in the Lake Placid Ironman event.
The bill, sponsored by Senator Betty Little, allows licensed professionals, such as massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors and podiatrists, from other states and territories to provide services to competitors. The health care professionals must be in good standing and be appointed by the World Triathlon Corporation.
A companion bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward passed the Assembly on March 14. The legislation will be returned to the Assembly and then delivered to Governor Andrew Cuomo for his consideration.
The Ford Ironman Lake Placid event is scheduled for Sunday, July 24, 2011.
