Students from Birch Elementary School in Merrick recently participated in Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr.’s annual “Extend the Holidays” toy drive by collecting numerous boxes and bags full of toys. Senator Fuschillo (R-Merrick) recently visited the school to personally pick up the toys and thank students and staff for once again participating in the program.
“Extend the Holidays” is an annual toy drive Senator Fuschillo organizes for the benefit of children in Winthrop Hospital’s Pediatric Center. The toys collected by the Birch students will be delivered to the hospital after the holiday season, so that children can experience the joys of receiving a holiday gift throughout the year.
“Birch’s students and staff once again did an amazing job collecting toys. Their hard work will help put a smile on the faces of many children who are going through tough times. I thank them for participating in this program and helping to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Senator Fuschillo.
