Senator Fuschillo Holds Free Veterans Breakfast to Thank Veterans for Serving Our Country

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today held a free breakfast for veterans in his Senate district as a way to say “thank you” for their service to our country. Veterans from Freeport to Lindenhurst packed the Seaford Knights of Columbus to participate in the breakfast.

            “Serving breakfast to veterans who served our country was a small token of appreciation for everything these local heroes have done for us. Each of these veterans deserves our gratitude and respect for the sacrifices they made in defense of our freedom. I’m extremely pleased we were able to say ‘thank you’ to so many of them today,” said Senator Fuschillo.  

            Senator Fuschillo began the event by welcoming the veterans and thanking them for serving our country. Members of the Wantagh American Legion Bagpipe Band led in a color guard composed of boy scouts from Troop 96 in Wantagh, which was followed by the pledge of allegiance and the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner” by American Idol contestant, and Merrick resident, Robbie Rosen. Congressman Peter King (R-Seaford) served as the event’s guest speaker. 

            Veterans were then treated to breakfast, followed by a short video tribute thanking them for their service to our country.  

            Senator Fuschillo also gave special recognition to two special veterans, Merrick resident Robert Tom Riordan and Roosevelt resident George A. Jones, for their decades of service to our country, their fellow veterans, and their communities. Both men were selected by Senator Fuschillo as members of the New York State Senate’s Veterans Hall of Fame. 

            Veterans were also provided with information about different veterans’ recognition programs.
