New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is inviting local families to participate in his annual Summertime Reading Program.
“Developing a love of reading at a young age will benefit children for the rest of their lives. Encouraging children to shift their eyes away from the television and into the pages of a good book will help ensure that their reading skills continue to develop during their summer vacation. I invite all families to participate in this program,” said Senator Fuschillo.
Senator Fuschillo’s Summertime Reading Program is open to all elementary school students in his Senate district. Children that choose to participate must read at least three books during the summer months and write a description of each in the “Summer Reading Journal.” After the record book is completed and signed by a parent, children can mail it back to Senator Fuschillo’s office and receive an official Senate certificate for completing the program.
Parents who would like to have their children participate in Senator Fuschillo’s Summertime Reading Program should call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630 or download a copy of the summer reading journal by clicking the link at the bottom of this page.
