Residents Invited to Help by Donating Non-Perishable Food & Other Items
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) is teaming up with Long Island Cares: the Harry Chapin Food Bank to sponsor a food drive benefitting Long Island families in need.
All food collected through the program will be donated to Long Island Cares, which delivers food to over 500 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other assistance organizations. The food drive will run through the end of April.
“Over 320,000 Long Islanders don’t know where their next meal is going to come from, according to Long Island Cares. This food drive will help provide a helping hand to those families who have fallen on hard times. I thank Long Island Cares for partnering with me in this program and invite all residents to participate,” said Senator Fuschillo.
Residents who would like to participate in the food drive can do so by donating any of the following items:
* non-perishable food
* personal care items (toothbrushes, razors, deodorant, etc.)
* household items
* baby care items
* school supplies
Residents can drop off these items at any of the following locations:
* Senator Fuschillo’s Office (5550 Merrick Road, Suite 205, Massapequa)
* Copiague Library (50 Deauville Boulevard, Copiague)
* Freeport Library (144 West Merrick Road, Freeport)
* Seaford Library (2234 Jackson Avenue, Seaford)
* Wantagh Library (3285 Park Avenue, Wantagh)
Over 20 schools from towns throughout Senator Fuschillo’s district have also signed up to participate in the program.
