Local Students Aiming to Help Raise Grades and Raise Funds for Charity

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently met with three Kennedy High School students who founded their own organization to help educate students and raise money for charity.

The three students, Ross Iscowitz, Samantha Finkel, and Jordan Horowitz, are the founders of “Tutors For A Cure.” Founded this past January, Tutors For A Cure is a student run organization which offers peer tutoring to students in grades 4 through 12. Student tutors provide assistance in a wide variety of subjects, including english, math, social studies, foreign language, science, and computer skills.

The tutors charge an hourly fee and donate a portion of the proceeds to the American Cancer Society. According to the organizations co-founder, Tutors For A Cure has already donated over $500 to the American Cancer Society to help fund cancer research and find a cure for cancer.

“Tutors For A Cure is a wonderful idea to help other students raise their grades and help the American Cancer Society raise hope for cancer patients. It’s wonderful to see these students working so hard to make a difference in other people’s lives. I wish them all the best as they continue their mission in the future,” said Senator Fuschillo.
