Senator Fuschillo Sponsors Free Child Car Seat Safety Check

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently sponsored a free car seat safety check where parents could have their children’s car seats checked for proper installation. The program was held in conjunction with the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board. 

Officials from the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board performed the free safety inspections and fixed any seats that were improperly installed. Parents were also informed of the steps they should take to make sure their child’s car seat is used properly in the future. 

Car seats can reduce the threat of injury or death by as much as 65 percent, but only if they are installed properly, according to the Nassau County Traffic Safety Board. The Nassau County Traffic Safety Board also estimates that as many as 90 percent of car seats are improperly installed.
