Senator Squadron Congratulates Cornell & Technion, Continues Push for Nyu-Poly 370 Jay Proposal

BROOKLYN -- Today, State Senator Daniel Squadron released the following statement congratulating Cornell University and the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology on the selection of their Applied Sciences NYC proposal, and reiterating his call on the City to also select New York University's and the Polytechnic Institute's proposal for a campus at 370 Jay Street in Downtown Brooklyn:

"Since November I have been urging the City to choose NYU-Poly's proposal for an Applied Sciences Center at 370 Jay Street, as one of multiple proposals that is selected.  Today, the Mayor announced a worthy first recipient in the Cornell -Technion proposal and made clear that the competition is not over.  NYU's 370 Jay proposal would be a worthy additional selection -- and a game-changer for Downtown Brooklyn.  My colleagues and I are continuing to work with the City, the MTA, and the community to make it a reality."

Last month, Senator Squadron sent a letter to Deputy Mayor Steel urging the City to award NYU-Poly's proposal that would utilize a long-empty keystone property in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn.
