FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 4, 2011

All Community Members Invited to Attend Convention at St. Francis College on Sunday, March 13th

New York, NY—State Senator Daniel Squadron announced an open invitation today to his third annual 25th Senate District Community Convention, a gathering intended to elicit input on legislative and community priorities from residents of the community.

"This convention is one step toward open and accessible government," Senator Squadron said.  “For me, it is an opportunity to listen to community members about their ideas and priorities.  I invite everyone to join me on the 13th and share your perspective on what we should be accomplishing, in Albany and in the community.”

This year’s Community Convention will take place at St. Francis College, 180 Remsen Street in Brooklyn, on Sunday, March 13th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.

In prior years, more than 400 community members have attended the annual convention, giving input on issues as varied as school overcrowding, rent regulation, marriage equality, and health care, among many others.

After a plenary session and welcome from Senator Squadron, participants split into small, moderated discussion groups to focus on a range of topics.  Senator Squadron joins the discussions, listens to the participants and uses the feedback from the convention to inform his legislative and community priorities in the coming year.

Attendees are asked to RSVP to Rosemarie Diaz in Senator Squadron’s office at rdiaz@nysenate.gov or 212-298-5565.
