(Nanuet, NY) Hurricane Irene has left approximately 48,000 residents in our area without power and caused extensive damage to homes and businesses. Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Orange) has been touring Rockland and Orange counties and will continue to do so over the next 24-48 hours with local government officials and business owners to determine how the state can help with recovery both in the immediate and long terms.
“My priority over the next several days is to ensure that residents and businesses receive the assistance they require to recover from the damaging effects of Hurricane Irene,” Senator Carlucci said.
Senator Carlucci offers the following advice to home and business owners who have suffered damage from Hurricane Irene:
- Contact your insurance company with your policy number and any other relevant information.
- Document any damage with photographs and videos before making any repairs or cleaning up.
- Ask your insurance agent if you have coverage for living expenses if you have been forced to evacuate your home.
Any residents who have further questions or are having difficulty processing their claims should contact Senator Carlucci’s office at 623-3627 for assistance.
In addition, residents who remain without power can come to Senator Carlucci’s office at 95 South Middletown Road in Nanuet to charge cell phones, emergency radios or additional devices necessary to remain able to receive updates regarding the storm.
