Senator Carlucci Calls on New York State Board of Regents
to Continue Italian Language Program
(New City, NY) In an effort to continue the study of the Italian language and culture, Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland) is strongly urging the New York State Board of Regents to retain the Italian Regents.
The Board of Regents is planning to eliminate the Italian Regents in schools throughout New York State after June 2011, leaving only French and Spanish available as language options.
“The knowledge of foreign languages, and the understanding of other cultures is vital to the success of our young adults in this global economy,” said Senator Carlucci. “As an Italian American and a proponent of the study of foreign languages, I strongly urge the Board of Regents to continue offering Italian language studies to students in New York State.”
