Honoring Our Troops This Valentine’s Day
(Pearl River, NY) Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland) joined students from the Lincoln Avenue Elementary School in Pearl River to box up hundreds of Valentine’s Day cards to be sent to our troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The cards were made by elementary school children from 22 schools in Rockland county. After being boxed up, the cards will be sent overseas and distributed by Commanding Officers and Chaplains to the men and women who are serving our country this Valentine’s Day.
“Holidays like Valentine’s Day can be hard on our troops overseas who are separated from their loved ones here,” Senator Carlucci said. “It’s important that we honor our brave troops who are protecting our freedoms every day, sacrificing the comforts of home. The Valentines for Vets program is a nice way for the community to let our troops know we are thinking about them and appreciate their service.”
