On Thursday, February 24, 2011, NYS Senator Eric Adams joined Senate Democrats, NYC Elected Officials, and Housing Advocates to call for immediate extension and expansion of Rent Regulations in SFY 2011-12 Budget. With the shortage of affordable housing in New York City and the surrounding counties (Westchester, Nassau, Rockland) reaching crisis levels and rent regulations set to expire, Senate Democrats will join with City elected officials and over 100 housing advocates to call for the immediate extension and expansion of tenant protections for over 1 million homes.
To prevent the most significant “tenant tax” in the history of New York that could force over a million New Yorkers from their homes, Senate Democrats are calling for their omnibus tenant protection bill (S.2783-A/ Espaillat) to be included in the SFY 2011-12 budget.
