Senator Adams statement regarding veto of S4489, which would have restored health insurance and supplemental benefits to retirees of the NYC Off Track Betting Corporation

"I am deeply disappointed to hear that Governor Cuomo chose to veto this legislation, as the employees entered the NYCOTB service with the assurance that they and their dependents would receive these benefits. That promise was subsequently broken by NYCOTB’s closure, and the failure of New York State to honor its commitment to these former public employees reinforces the shameful disregard shown to hardworking New Yorkers. During these tough economic times, the last thing New York State should be party to is an action that results in severe financial hardship and potential danger to the health and welfare of NYCOTB retirees and their dependents."
