Senator George Maziarz (R-C, Newfane) is pleased to announce that he has again been welcomed into the New York Farm Bureau’s “Circle of Friends.” The award, bestowed by the state’s largest farm advocacy organization, is an indication of Senator Maziarz’ support of New York agriculture and the Farm Bureau during the 2011 legislative session.
Senator Maziarz said, “Agriculture is vital to our Senate district and to the entire State of New York. Farming supports families, creates jobs, and puts food on our tables. I am proud to be a strong advocate for agriculture in state government, and I will continue to work hard to see that family farms can flourish in our region.
Farm Bureau President Dean Norton said, “The ‘Circle of Friends’ Award is based upon each legislator’s voting record on issues of importance to New York agriculture and other evidence of legislative support, including sponsorship of bills that Farm Bureau has either supported, or opposed, throughout the Legislative Session.”
Senator Maziarz has received the award every year since he was first elected to the State Senate in 1995. This year, Senator Maziarz helped to pass an on-time budget that restored funding for key agriculatural programs, and also to pass the property tax cap. Both measures were endorsed by the Farm Bureau.
New York Farm Bureau, a nonpartisan, volunteer organization, is the State’s largest agricultural lobbying/trade organization. New York Farm Bureau is dedicated to solving the economic and public policy issues challenging the agricultural community.
