Senator Rivera, Assembly Member Castro and Council Member Cabrera Met with Constituents at Town Hall Meeting

Bronx, NY – Senator Gustavo Rivera (D, WF-Bronx), Assembly Member Nelson Castro (D-Bronx) and Council Member Fernando Cabrera (D-Bronx) held a Town hall meeting on Wednesday, May 11 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Bronx Works Morris Senior Center. They met with community members to discuss a wide range of local, state and federal issues of concern to the residents of their overlapping districts.

“I am committed to holding town hall meetings throughout my district to listen to the concerns and ideas that come from community members as well as give community members the opportunity to get to know me as their elected official,” said Senator Rivera. “It is important to me that the residents of the 33rd Senate District know they have a State Senator who cares about what they’re going through and wants to represent their interests in Albany as well as make a difference in their day to day lives here in the Bronx.”

“It’s always good for our constituents to have a forum where they can directly connect with their representatives,” says Councilman Cabrera. “Anytime the community can connect with all of their local elected officials and present their concerns is an opportunity that I welcome and look forward to participating in going forward.”

"These types of forums afford me and my colleagues an opportunity to collaboratively listen and address community concerns. I am committed to working with the Senator and the Councilman to address some of the concerns that were brought forth last night."

Senator Rivera, Assembly Member Castro and Council Member Cabrera updated their constituents about the work they have been doing in Albany and at City Hall respectively. Most of the questions fielded by Senator Rivera, Assembly Member Castro and Council Member Cabrera were in reference to housing issues, youth issues and crime or public safety concerns.
