Remembering Pearl Harbor

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I - Schenectady) asks constituents to bow their heads in a few moments of silence on December 7th, in honor of Pearl Harbor Day.

"It was on that day in 1941 that Japanese planes attacked the United States in Hawaii, killing some 2,000 Americans," Senator Farley said. "Unfortunately, over the years, some may have forgotten what that day meant and how President Franklin Roosevelt was right when he said it will live in infamy. As we continue to fight in the War on Terrorism and have military loved ones overseas during the holidays, we must remember our fallen brothers and sisters who have given their lives for this Country."

The attack at Pearl Harbor destroyed the USS Arizona and USS Oklahoma as well as some 180 aircraft. This was the catalyst that brought the United States into World War II, Senator Farley said.
