Senator Martins Congratulates Searingtown School on Optimum-Lightpath Grant

Optimum Lightpath, a division of Cablevision, awarded a $10,000 grant the Searingtown School in Albertson to roll out ambitious new technology-driven learning programs. The grant program was open to public and private elementary and secondary schools in the counties of Nassau and Suffolk. Grants were awarded based on how the school would:

· Leverage technology to improve instruction;

· Promote the use of technology to improve the overall education experience;

· Utilize new technology to promote distance learning; and

· Create new school initiatives centered around new technologies.

Senator Jack M. Martins visited the Searingtown School, where Optimum Lightpath presented the grant, to congratulate the school on receiving as well as thank Optimum Lightpath.

“The Searingtown School is part of the outstanding Herricks School District and will put this grant to good use. I want to thank Optimum Lightpath for their commitment to education. I think our schools do a tremendous job of using technology to enhance the educational opportunities for our students. This will only help further that endeavor,” Senator Martins said.
