Senator Jack M. Martins attended the annual New York State School Music Association Concert at the State Capitol. During the concert, Senator Martins had the opportunity to congratulate local musical performers Christina Ames, Nicholas Olynciw and Nikhl Thomas. All three students attend local schools in the 7th Senate District. Ames attends Wheatley High School; Olynciw attends Floral Park Memorial High School and Thomas attends Clarke High School in Westbury. The concert featured outstanding musicians from throughout the state.
NYSSMA's mission is to advocate for and improve music education programs in our high schools by promoting programs and activities that immerse our young people in challenging music study. "The performance by the NYSSMA band was truly sensational," said Senator Martins. "The talent on display, and dedication of these young people to music, is truly inspiring. I was very proud that the 7th Senate District was well represented by Christina, Nicholas and Nikhl on the stage."
