On Friday, April 22, New York State Senator Jack M. Martins helped cut the ribbon, signifying the opening of the historic Mineola Diner, which was built in 1948. Senator Martins joined with owners Michael Alpert and Shane Fritsche as he wished them success in making the diner an important part of the community.

Senator Martins stated that "Diners have played an important part in Americana and since 1948, the Mineola Diner has been a integral part of this community. We are thankful to its new owners Michael Alpert and Shane Fritsche for investing in this historical diner and helping keep this community in-touch with its past."

The diner is located at 138 Jericho Turnpike on the corner of Willis Avenue.

Senator Martins served as the Mayor of the Village of Mineola from 2003 to 2011 when he sworn in as Senator.
