Senator Martins Holds Listening Session With Elmont Parents

State Senator Jack Martins was back in Elmont holding a listen session with families about community priorities and opportunities. The listen session is another installment of a series of meetings with small and large groups of community members to hear what’s on the minds of residents. Senator Martins has held numerous sessions throughout the 7th Senate district in communities like New Hyde Park, Great Neck, New Cassel, Westbury, Port Washington, Floral Park, Manhasset, Herricks, Elmont and many more.

The listen sessions, according to Senator Martins, are “productive meetings where there is give and take and a free flowing discussion on issues and concerns that people have.”

During this installment of Senator Martins’ listen session, a discussion about the future of economic development on Hempstead Turnpike and revitalization was the focus of community members and parents. During the visit, residents strongly favored the Elmont revitalization plan and supported Senator Martins’ vision of economic revitalization and job creation in the Hempstead Turnpike corridor. Families also came out heavily in support of a new Soccer facility at the Belmont South lot where young people can play and hold tournaments.

“In every meeting I have in communities throughout the 7th Senate district, communities have a very clear vision of what they want to see happen in their neighborhoods. Elmont is no exception. In every listen session I have held in Elmont, from Sewanhaka and Elmont Memorial High Schools to the Chamber Roundtable, Jamaica Square Improvement League Civic and Black History Month celebration, community members and leaders are focused on Belmont, job creation and revitalizing the greater community. It’s my priority and I look forward to continuing to work proactively on economic development issues up and down Hempstead Turnpike,” concluded Senator Martins.
