Senator Martins Participates in Cellphones for Soldiers - Unused Phones Can Be Dropped Off at District Office

The District Office of Senator Jack M. Martins is now a drop-off point for the Cellphones for Soldiers program. The program encourages residents to show their appreciation for our service men and women serving overseas by donating unused cell phones.

The phones are then turned into calling cards, which are sent to our troops so they can use them to call home.

"I am proud to support this great cause. With many of our brave men and women serving overseas, it’s incumbent on us to support them as much as possible. This is just someting small we can do to show our appreciation to those serving in the military to protect our freedom and way of life," said Senator Martins.

Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist from Massachusettes, who started the program with $21 of their own money. "Over the past few years, we have been amazed by the generosity of others. But, we have also seen the need to support our troops continue," said Brittany Bergquist.

Phones can be dropped off at Senator Martins' District Office, located at 151 Herricks Road, Suite 202, Garden City Park, NY. The office building is north of Old Country Road and south of Jericho Turnpike.
