Senator Jack M. Martins participated in a hearing that addressed the MTA’s finances on Thursday, May 5. The hearing was held at SUNY Old Westbury. It was sponsored by the Senate Standing Committee on Investigations and Government Operations, chaired by Senator Carl Marcellino.
The hearing explored the MTA’s annual operating deficits in an effort to stop the continuing cycle of increased fares and decreased services at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).
“When it comes to the MTA, it doesn’t ever appear that revenues catch up with expenses. I am concerned with the MTA’s budget, especially when it comes to the impact on it of the debt service,” said Senator Martins.
