Senator Jack M. Martins was at the Mansion Village Club of Sands Point on Sunday to support the Friends of Port Rowing for the launch of the fall season. Friend of Port Rowing was established in 2010 in Port Washington to support rowing in the surrounding waters.
Friends of Port Rowing supports the sport of rowing through teamwork and competitive spirit. With 125 members who are in seventh to 12th grade, Port Rowing has certainly found its niche in the community by giving those who are interested in the sport an opportunity to continue to participate in it.
Members take to the waters of the Long Island Sound, all working towards the same goal. “I am so impressed by Friends of Port Rowing. They have taken a sport that fosters teamwork and helped bring it to the youth of the community. It symbolizes the success our communities have in working together,” said New York State Senator Jack M. Martins.
